Queer Style Coaching
Style advice from someone who actually gets it.
Imagine This:
Getting dressed in the morning is easeful. You look in the mirror and you smile: you look HOT! You walk out the door projecting confidence, because you actually feel good in the clothes you’re wearing. Friends and strangers compliment you on your sense of style.
You like what you’re wearing. You feel like yourself. You dress for your own joy.
I have two coaching programs to help get you there
Both programs are designed to help you…
Discover and clarify your unique personal style
Identify what’s working in your wardrobe - and what’s not - so you can start building a cohesive wardrobe full of pieces that fit your body on your terms and make you feel amazing
Learn how to shop for and style your staple garments so you can get dressed with ease
“For the first time I feel like I’m actually me!
I love the style that Tess and I developed together. I have so much fun putting together outfits, even on days when I’m working from home.”

3 Month Style Coaching Graduate
I see you…
You’re a badass queer babe, ready to expand how you show up in the world
You know who you are - or you’re in the process of figuring that out (it’s a journey!!) - and you want your outward presentation to better match the authentic version of you that is emerging
You want to project confidence and joy, but shopping and getting dressed often leave you feeling dysphoric instead
Your closet is full of clothes that no longer match your identity or fit your body, and you don’t know where to start
I get it! I was there too - and you don’t need to figure this all out on your own.
About Me
Hi I’m Tess! I use they/them pronouns and I identify as trans non-binary. Personal style is such an important part of the way I express myself in the world as a queer person, but it hasn’t always been easy.
I know what it’s like to go through identity shifts, to see a disconnect between the reflection in the mirror and the way you feel on the inside, to feel defeated and dysphoric when nothing in your closet fits the way you want.
BUT as I started to lean in and explore my style more, some really beautiful things happened. I learned A LOT about myself, especially about my gender identity and presentation.
I learned how to sew clothes for myself, which was both an empowering step on my style journey, and an essential self-care practice as I was navigating a divorce, a 180 degree career pivot, and unstable housing (hello Saturn Returns!)
I gave myself permission to experiment and try things out, and I gave myself compassion on the days that it felt especially hard. I started wearing more color!
Eventually, I started to actually feel grounded not just in my style sense and gender presentation, but in my connection to myself, my queerness, and my understanding of how I want to show up in the world.
When I get dressed and walk out the door, I feel confident, joyful, and connected to my sense of self.
These feelings are so powerful! They radiate outward and impact so much more about myself, my day, and my life than just how I look - but yes, I do look damn good too.
As a garment sewist, I have specialized knowledge about how clothing is designed and made for different bodies. I know what sorts of design elements to look for to achieve a desired fit or style, and I also know what’s possible - if not the norm - in terms of gender-inclusive design.
I offer custom clothing commissions for my coaching clients if we determine that some of your wardrobe needs would best be filled by custom designs. Check out some of my work here!
